Andrew Bird is in the midst of writing his new album, which is due early next year. The album will consist of ten tracks and is a follow up to his album last year, The Mysterious Production Of Eggs, which was critically acclaimed as one of the best of the year. The album may be more political oriented than his previous efforts. Whatever the untitled album will be called, I’m sure we can be confident that the content will be good. ( source )

Speaking of political oriented albums, Neil Young has recorded an album with the clear and primary motivation of his wishes to impeach President Bush. A song called ‘Let’s Impeach the President’ may be included on the album. The new album comes just seven months after his album Prarie Wind. ( source )

Gnarls Barkley and The Streets are ruling the UK charts. The Streets new album, The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living, has debuted at number one on the album charts, echoing the success of Skinner’s previous album, A Grand Don’t Come For Free. The outstanding Gnarls Barkley single, Crazy, has been number one the singles chart for three weeks in a row. I posted an MP3 of it earlier here. ( source )

The Flaming Lips’ Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots has gone gold. The album will eventually be considered a classic, though their most recent efforts don’t compare to Yoshimi. ( source )

The Arctic Monkeys’ MySpace account apparently sold for $2048.67. The only thing more absurd than this is the person who is actually paying that kind of money for a MySpace account. ( source )

Doug Martsch of Built To Spill fame is currently recovering the hospital after a major operation to repair a detached retina. His vision will probably never be the same, but he is recovering and fortunate ( source ). Jack White discusses how The Raconteurs are much more than a petty side project ( source ). Companies continue their copyright annoyances as Youtube recently pulled a homemade Weezer video off of their site ( source ). Apparently, a new study says listeners of rap music are more prone to substance abuse. I don’t know about that one. ( source )
