Obscure Sound: Best of September 2010

I hope September went well for everyone, as it can be one of the busiest months. Sweatshirt weather is pretty nice though, and this past Saturday proved that. Some hot apple cider with spiced rum is to autumn as eggnog is to winter, and when they go hand-in-hand with some quality college football and an outside bar on a balmy autumn day, there are few things better.Of course, you need to have something blaring over the speakers too. Some music this month – like the subdued electronica of Pond and Solar Bears, or the gloomy post-rock of Twin Shadow – fit autumn extraordinarily well. Other acts, like psychedelic-rockers Pond or avant-garde World’s End Girlfriend, are too scattered for a seasonal alignment, but great nonetheless.  There is plenty of great new material to be had. So much that I figured tossing on the essential autumn artist, Van Morrison, would do no harm.
