Though we’re forever resistant to let go of the warm weather, the transition from summer to fall is never unpleasant. Sweaters and autumn-colored foliage greet us warmly, while our ears begin to beg us for grunge over the pop-filled melodies we have been continually listening to under the sun. Fall 2010 has already proven to be a friendly listening season, with noteworthy album releases from Of Montreal, The Drums, and Blonde Redhead. With more coming from Badly Drawn Boy, Simian Mobile Disco, Belle and Sebastian, and Sufjan Stevens to name a few, we’ve got a lot to look forward to. Get ready for the color of music to change this season along with the leaves, making a smooth transition with this dark and dusky playlist.

This is a great playlist. Thanks for sharing. I’ve heard of some of these, but others are new and interesting to me. I’m going to give them all a whirl, and hopefully enjoy them in the midst of all this great weather. Cheers!
This is a great playlist and really represents the time of year perfectly. I’ve heard most of these, but the few new ones in here are great!
Agree about “Yellow” – my favorite Coldplay song. Well, the only coldplay song I liked.
And Clint Eastwood… man, blast from the past. a GREAT blast.
Brilliant playlist. Band of Horses – Funeral… oh my! I love that song and have for several years. Bravo.
Very nice list ! I would also add Laura Marling, Johnny Flynn, Mumford And Sons. I always listen to them during the season. I immediately imagine myself walking in orange leaves on a cold breezy day. There’s also Welcome Home by Radical Face that reminds me a lot of autumn 🙂
