Eddy Mann – “Just Like Jesus”

Combining soul and gospel influence, “Just Like Jesus” is a memorable new track from Philadelphia-based artist Eddy Mann. The Christian singer/songwriter conveys the selflessness of Jesus on the track, centered around a compelling “isn’t that just like Jesus?” fervency within the central hook. A thematic focus persists on how Jesus recognizes “the poor, the mourning, the meek, the hungry, the merciful, the pure in heart, the peacemakers, and the persecuted.” It’s an apt message during times of tumult, where fear of “the other,” runs overly rampant.

The production is particularly magnetic in the approach to the three-minute turn. Soulful keys and harmonious vocal escalations stir, culminating in the title-touting refrain as shades of Philly soul and gospel nostalgia intertwine; there are shades of Hall & Oates in the soulful pop production and stylish vocal drive. “Just Like Jesus” is among the many highlights on Mann’s new album Turn Up the Divine, streaming in full below:
