Keisuke Hagiwara – “Tabidachi”

/

San Francisco-based artist Keisuke Hagiwara melds starry-eyed atmospherics and a driving electro-pop pulse on new single “Tabidachi,” which translates to “departure” in Japanese — a reflection of the track’s “feelings of sentimental and 80s nostalgia,” per the artist. A pulsing bass drive complements illuminated synths, which float with ethereal charm amidst the retro-friendly rhythmic propulsions.

Hagiwara also played bass in alt-rock band ABNORMALS and psych-rock band QUO, so it’s of no surprise that the bass-y component on “Tabidachi” is fantastic, particularly as its throbbing lead takes hold into the satiating conclusion. Also a multi-instrumentalist, Hagiwara excels on this standout track, which artfully melds a love for nostalgia, synthwave, and electronic arsenals. “Tabidachi” was recorded at Hagiwara’s own home studio, and releases under his label 70X STUDIO — representing a true DIY effort.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
