Feye – “River”

/

Düsseldorf-based pop artist Feye struts a catchy synth-driven sound on “River,” which follows two acclaimed EPs in 2023. An effervescent production complements a lushly melodic vocal presence, emitting lyrics that depict the challenges of emotional connections and personal growth — particularly when confronted with complex relationships. “River” precedes another busy year for Feye; she is working on a new EP and album for 2024.

“You’re looking for someone you can no longer find,” the vocals lament in the buzzing verses. “Can you talk to me?” a more melancholic shift enamors alongside starry-eyed synths. The metaphorical representation of struggling in the river, and eventually finding the sea, is artfully representative of personal growth and self-discovery — navigating troubled and vague waters in an eventual arrival to someone/something greater. “You only see the rain, I see a river,” Feye sings, enveloping in a radiant confidence and melodic, glowing production.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
