Anna Gurl – “Ditch” + “Mosaic”

/

Two recent singles from Boston-based artist Anna Gurl showcase the artist’s commanding songwriting, succeeding in both the rock bustle of “Ditch” and the more folk-touched warmness within “Mosaic.”

“Ditch” is exemplary of Gurl’s dynamic, melodic range. An angsty alt-rock vigor persists in the verses, as vocals sing of aspiring for rest and comfort following tumult. “Would you wear this dress I made?” a devastating shift begins, with twinkling piano adornments melding with buzzing guitar fragments for a spine-chilling effect. “Mosaic” shows a more reflective, acoustic-set immersion to start. Gurl describes the track as “a calm indie folk rock song about doing mushrooms and the feeling of accepting heartbreak.”

These and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
