CAVN – “Timed Out” (feat. Katie Canning)

/

London-based producer and composer CAVN crafts a haunting pop intrigue on “Timed Out,” featuring a riveting vocal performance from Katie Canning. Thematic explorations of heartbreak, abandonment, and trust persist within the engrossing production, which bolsters both upfront vocal leads and a ghostly quivering aspect, which exudes a wordless entrancement at points throughout. The final minute develops from piano-forward intimacy into string-laden theatrics, concluding the production with aptly dynamic flair.

“So why do I cry?” the vocals ask before a brief pause, which glides into that aforementioned ghostly vocal element thereafter. The hypnotic, bass-y backbone and vocal production combine for a meditative intrigue, set against confessional vocal statements like “I feel so alone.” A clamoring for someone “to love me,” resonates with a sincere outpouring of emotion, succeeding against both dark synth-pop backdrops and the more soaring vocal fervency. “Timed Out” is a fantastic showcase in songwriting and production from CAVN.
