“California Love” is a shimmering track from Swedish psych-rockers Black Light White Light, who previously impressed with the captivating “King Kong” last month. Bright, psych-friendly guitars kick things off, as hypnotic vocals emerge at the 24-second mark with a calm touch of reverb. Percussion gradually kicks in, with some great psychedelic guitar work around 01:28. The second half features a great key/synth-laden backing that adds a magical quality to the overall aesthetic. Hypnotic and melodically engaging, “California Love” is one of many successes off Horizons, the act’s new album, available on Spotify here and below.
