Illinois-based singer/songwriter Sarah Schonert crafts an engaging, experimental vein of pop with glistening vocals and keys reminiscent of Kate Bush. Such is apparent on new track “Tree with Feet”, one of several highlights off her new album Penguin Party. A multi-instrumentalist and self-producer churning out tunes from her home in Peoria, IL, Schonert’s knack for integrating classical-minded piano with electronic flourishes and hypnotically layered vocals makes for a very unique approach, with “Penguin Party” navigating through an unpredictable structure and ghostly soundscape in the various vocal layers and glistening piano.
