Distant brass kicks off “Analogue Noir”, the new track from Dallas-based electronic producer Run DMT. From there, haunting vocal snippets and dubstep-laden percussive/bass drops lead to the brass’ re-emergence at 01:26, with the dubstep and brass components converging after the two-minute mark. It’s a nice showing of Run DMT, who has performed at Coachella and whose remix credentials include The Who, Major Lazer, Twenty One Pilots, Bassnectar and more. His new album, Revolutionaire, is Run DMT’s return from a 3-year production hiatus, when he focused on side projects like PPLPRSN and Sobo. Revolutionaire is a strong success, recalling Flying Lotus in the brass and jazz-infused takes on electronica.
