NYC psychedelic act Les Techno’s new album, Whatever Happened to Les Techno?, shows the rocker pursuing a Moog-accompanied form of jangle-rock that recalls an even more hypnotic version of ’80s greats like Echo & the Bunnymen and U2. Opening track “Trophy Wife” rides on suave vocals and late-night guitar reverb, with a percussive role that hearkens a bit to vintage hip-hop. It’s a fusion of several nostalgic pieces of enjoyment, ending with a chilled-out guitar solo that accompanies the distant, nocturnal “ooh”-ing vocal in the background.
