John Dominy’s new album Atlantic Coast is a consuming, very successful creation inspired by dream-pop and jangle-rock. Dominy is a gifted singer/songwriter, with a great knack for twangy hooks, as shown on the track “Money” and its progression from jangly verses to a fully expansive, shimmering chorus. Other efforts show equally impressive skill, with the country twang of “Mixed Up” and vintage soaring vocal presence of “San Antone” both offering up a wide assortment of memorable moments. The anthemic, fleshed-out exuberance of the release’s self-titled track also succeeds as Dominy’s most rock-forward and lively track yet. It’s all good stuff from Dominy so far.
