GaBso is an Israeli singer/songwriter who has been ascending in recognition the past 14 years, reaching third place on the first season of “Kochav Nolad ” (eq. “American Idol”). He has been a common presence on similar shows, as well as earning first place at several competition-themed festivals, like first place at the “Song festival of Israel” in 2004. His most recent EP, Made Me Wanna Change My Name, was released on February 21st and is headlined by the track of the same name — a colorful, synth-popper with an arsenal reminiscent of Erasure’s ’80s pop charm, combined with a modern commercial-pop punch evident in the vocal delivery and sporadic touches of strings (“over my head” bit). It’s a release that shows the act’s widespread appeal well.
