Fans of vintage power-pop and album-rock will likely find a soft spot for Milwaukee-based project The Pulltops, who are celebrating their 15th anniversary with the release of “Destination”, an upbeat and driving, yet dark and moody alternative power-pop effort. This recently released re-touching was mixed by Daniel Waldmann at Silent Underground Studios. Pulsing bass and four-on-the-floor drums combine with intensely gripping vocals and captivating hook for a fun and intense listening experience, hook-y yet moody as well. The band is primarily comprised of guitarist Tom Crowell and drummer/vocalist Mark Pierret. Bassist Steve Kerwin is a frequent presence when performing live. The act has also drawn substantial acclaim for their live performances as well, wonderfully evidenced by their fifth release and first live album, Live En Route, streaming in full below:
