Anthony Polcino creates solo material under the alias Antoine Diligent, where he churns out colorful psychedelic-friendly tracks like “Television Eyes”, off his debut album Futurisms. A native of New Jersey and presently based in Los Angeles, Polcino conceptualized his solo project as an alter ego within one of his collaborative bands called Beat Club, co-founded with Jeff Kite of Julian Casablancas & The Voidz in 2015. His style is ear candy for fans of Tame Impala and Unknown Mortal Orchestra, so it certainly hits my sweet spot. He began his solo material in 2010 and has several releases under the name Soft Pipes, though Antoine Diligent appears as the presently focused effort. The project’s debut album, Futurisms, aims to soundtrack “a place that might look more like the spacey, dystopian Los Angeles portrayed in Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner.” “Television Eyes” shows a commanding psych-pop production presence – from the swirling keys to angular guitars – that makes my confidence in this project very high.
