“Setting Souls” maneuvers with subtle precision, its nonchalant vocals and cleanly concise synth-bass leading throughout a hypnotic success that finds these UK music-makers in their stylistic comfort zone. The project – Fins A Luminous – delivers as said in combining “dark electronica, mind-bending soundscapes and hypnotizing vocals” – specifically with the house-tinged “Setting Souls”, a track that doesn’t really “erupt” until after the four-minute mark with the more exhilarated vocal delivery, but that in the prior minutes is very consuming in the hypnotic use of house techniques and crisp-clean production.
The more spacious “Funeral Shake”, an ethereal slab of atmosphere with Twin Peaks-inspired lyrics (and atmosphere), is also recommended. Stream it below:
