Talk about a great first impression. “Summer Song” is the first non-demo release from very promising rock group Inevitable Daydream, based out of Kent, UK. They capture an exhilarating form of garage-rock with the sort of unbridled passion reminiscent of artists like The Pixies to The Libertines. The woo-woo-ing backing vocals on “Summer Song” would fit nicely on The Pixies’ Doolittle, while the vocalist’s piercing roar meshing with pulsating guitar distortion is reminiscent of great Libertines tracks like “Time for Heroes” and “Up the Bracket“. With “Summer Song” making comparisons like these, Inevitable Daydream show themselves as a fantastic, no-frills rock group with an exceedingly bright future. This is absolutely one of the best rock tracks I’ve heard so far in 2014. I’ll have my eyes on Inevitable Daydream, for sure.
