“From Inside” is another excellent track from Million Kopek, a French duo that I compared to Air last month for their ability to incorporate hypnotically atmospheric electronica with elements of pop and rock. “From Inside” is a tidy continuation of this, beginning with warbles of nocturnal synths reminiscent of the intro to Animal Collective’s “Bluish“. There’s plenty of that hazy goodness initially, and just as wonderful is the subsequent transition between alarm clock ringing and scraggly guitar entries. After this, “From Inside” perks up and abides by a tightly constructed indie-rock feel… more Malajube this time than Air. “From Inside” is a nice change-up for a group with atmospheric appeal, showing their more direct and infectious rock-leaning side with this gem.
