Bradford-based band Talk To Angels is the work of Embrace keyboardist Mickey Dale and his fellow collaborators, all with the intent to create hypnotic alt-rock with as much bark and bite as Embrace, but with a slightly heavier twang. Indeed, the TTA sound is a lot more euphoric and passionate in nature (in my view, anyway) and has more in common with bands like The Killers, Shiny Toy Guns and 30 Seconds To Mars.
This rock-oriented material, including the hypnotic “Brain Man” and the anthemic yet tense “Hickory Dickory”, stand out as they work on all the senses; total pop hooks clash with punk-inspired drum beats to finally collide with Craig Kaye’s raw and honest vocal stylings. To put it simply, this material – which can be categorised as electronic-tinged classic rock – is arena-ready and should appeal to fans craving infectiously energetic tunes. Following the great success of EP Enemies Closer, the band is currently hard at work on a new as-yet-untitled record due out in the coming months.
