Brendan Benson Launches Record Label, New Album

Songwriter, producer, and Raconteurs co-founder Brendan Benson announced his own record label and publishing company, Readymade. The upstart will make its debut on 4/10 with Give Me My Change from Young Hines, a promising Chicago-based songwriter who will open for Benson throughout his 2012 tour. Benson’s new album, What Kind of World, will also be released through Readymade. It will be available 4/21 on brendanbenson.com, with a 4/24 street date.

Readymade has been a longtime concept for Benson, who released the Wellfed Boy demos in the ’90s under the Readymade imprint as a 12″ vinyl. The project was just that though — a concept. A lack of resources made it stop there. But now that Benson’s career has taken off (he produced five albums in 2011, including his own), Readymade is officially alive. In addition to the albums from Benson and Young Hines, Readymade will also be releasing The Lost Brothers’ next album, unsurprisingly produced by Benson.
