Some niche-friendly material from AC Slater, who continues to expand on techno, house, and other rave-friendly styles of heavy bass electronica with his new single “Big Brooklyn Bass”. Like many tracks from the producer of the hit “Calm Down”, Slater’s ode to his hometown is very rhythmically dependent. Pit-pattering percussion builds up with stiff tenseness as rolling drum breaks collide with explosive bass drops. It recalls old-school house in the best way possible, both in the tone of the conversational synths and its revolving structure. The track is another reason to keep an eye on this budding producer.
